Student billing and electronic payment options are primarily presented in the online Student Account. This is accessible to students via the Billing tab in Gibson Online.
Students may authorize parents or others to access their online billing statements and payment options. In compliance with FERPA policy, only students may authorize this access to their protected account information. Once established, authorized users will have direct access to current and past billing statements, account activity display, email notifications, and electronic payment options. Tulane University students are wholly responsible for the status of their account, including but not limited to timely payment of all amounts due by the due date indicated.

Why must you be "Authorized" by your student to access his/her bill online and make electronic payments?
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, 20 U.S.C. ยง 1232g, is a Federal law that protects the privacy of education records for eligible students. FERPA applies to all educational institutions that receive funds under the Department of Education. Under FERPA, education records are defined as records that are directly related to a student and are maintained by an educational agency or institution or by a party acting for the agency or institution.
Tulane University student billing statements and account activity include personally identifiable information and detail transactions incurred from utilization of University services. This information is protected under FERPA. Knowledge of the account balance and detail is required to determine an appropriate payment amount in our portal, and therefore, requires prior authorization by the student to utilize these methods.
As an alternative, students may elect to have one paper copy of their monthly billing statement mailed to an address they indicate. The statement recipient may choose to pay that statement balance by mailing a check to the remittance address indicated on the statement. Student are encouraged to share as much information as necessary to acquire payment of their amount due.
